Just wanted to say hello to everyone in Trinity County from a former resident. I have enjoyed your site, of course I am prejudiced in my reason for visiting your site, as my father is a candidate in the upcoming election! Keep up the great site and I'll visit again soon. Thanks, Vickie (Chambers) Bellus

Unfortunately I felt the need to put this up as an anonymous donor due to my position within the law enforcement community (and I am not a member of the sherrifs office). That said, I support Deputy Nawrock for sherrif. The reasons vary. I want to make it clear however, that I think Lorac is a fine man. He is freindly, nice, a person I feel comfortable around.

The people of this county need STRONG leadership, not a nice, freindly sherrif. Although all citizens should be able to feel the sherrif is approachable, there are times when he needs to be tough, assertive, and above all, sensitive to the community. Cases in point;

The letter published a couple years back when times were tough. Lorac told us all on page one what effect the budget had on his operations. He went on to tell us (BAD GUYS INCLUDED) what his deputies would and would not respond to. He was even kind enough to tell us (AND THE BAD GUYS) what hours we could expect to have a deputy on patrol and when they would not be. This was poor thinking, not to mention the fact that it could have led to some dire consequences.

Lorac also showed his nice guy side and his ability to be a team player when budget cuts came. Instead of standing FIRM, and telling the Board of Supervisors that he was not going to give up any of his budget without a fight, he was a nice guy and cut funding, resulting in lay-offs of jail staff and putting patrol deputies in the jail.

Deputies not responding to calls also became a norm here. "there are no deputies on" was an oft heard comment from dispatchers. Ask about the burglar alarm at the museum. Ask the merchants along Main street if they are happy with the presence or lack thereof of police protection. Ask the folks downriver if they like having Humboldt S/O or the CHP respond to thier needs instead of thier own deputies. How bout the folks in Trinity Center/Coffee Creek and southern Trinity.

We deserve better. We deserve a better administrator, we do not need a 'really nice guy'. Lorac had four years to prove to me (and you) he was the man for the job. I ask why a sergeant is paid an incentive to maintain a drug dog that is no longer a working dog if we have such a budget mess. I ask why so many new vehicles were bought after some funding was restored, instead of a few vehilces and MORE staff. Why are there so many corporals and sergeants? Why are members of the Sherrifs office contacting local merchants who support Marty with veiled threats of county buisness being taken elsewhere if their loyalties do not change. All of this will be denied, answers for other issues given. In the end, it's time for change. A fresh perspective, new ideas, leadership.

Congratulations Lorrac!!! You ran your campaign, as you have always run the department; with respect, integrity and a calm honest manner. For that I thank you and continue to repsect you immensly, as should those who have seen you work. May God continue to bless you and your family abundandantly!!
Thank you for doing a great job.
